the area this past September.

The aim is to expand recreational opportunities for both local residents and visiting tourists, and boost the local economy as well.

Wayne Lorenzen, councillor and chair of the ATV sub-committee, noted during a Jan.20 council meeting that the local trailway
system is a tourism gem and an outlet of recreation that will add to Gander’s appeal as a destination.

The chamber said it supports the development of the multi-use trail system because it provides a significant economic boost to
local businesses and the area as a whole.
It was noted during a recent meeting between the town and the chamber that the two parties worked together in 2000 to develop
the local connecting trails and the trails around Cobb’s Pond.

Lorenzen said that kind of work should continue in order to tap into the area’s potential.

Last year, a draft RFP was prepared by the chamber and is still available.

Lorenzen noted the town and the chamber were still interested in submitting the document to ACOA for assistance.
